Outdoor Kitchen BBQ and Outdoor Wine Cooler and Beverage Center Packages

If you're in the market for an outdoor kitchen package, there are a few things to consider, when purchasing. 

We've outlined what we feel are the most important things you should think about. 

The Best Type of  Outdoor Space For Building An Outdoor Kitchen

When you're building an outdoor kitchen, it's really important to think about where you'll place everything, and how it will flow with your existing area and home. 

Ground Level (Easiest Option)

If you have a scenario that allows for a ground level build, this is the best option. You'll have more options for building the structure, and you won't have to worry about weight, like you might on an above ground structure. 

Above Ground Deck

This option is good, but has a couple more things to consider. 

1.) What is the deck made out of? How will your island tie into this type of material, from an aestic perspective?

2.) How much weight can your deck hold, without requiring more structural bracing? If you're building on a deck, make sure to consult with a licensed contractor. 

3.) What is the deck made out of? If your deck is made out of combustible material (almost all decks are, you'll need to get insulated jackets for your grill(s), to protect your deck / structure from the heat that your grill can let off. 

Placing Equipment

Placing your grill in the correct area, is vital, for ease of use and flow of your outdoor kitchen, but more importantly, it's necessary to make sure you don't burn your house down.

Outdoor Kitchen's that are attached to your house

If your outdoor grill is facing your house, you'll need at least 12 - 24" clearance from any combustible materials. (See manufacturer's specifications)

We recommend having your grill face open air, to avoid having any issues with your grill being too close to your home.

Outdoor Kitchen in a covered area

If you're building your outdoor kitchen in a covered area, be sure to check the clearance requirements for your grill, to the ceiling. Most manufacturer's give a minimum of 6 - 7 feet of clearance required for an un-vented grill. We recommend installing a hood vent, that covers the area of your grill. This will help remove smoke, and protect the structure. 

Countertop Materials

One of the biggest components of your design will be the countertops. Having the best material for outdoor cooking is important, because some materials look great, but perform poorly outdoors. 

Best of  the Best

1.) Granite - Beautiful, but less versatile in styles. 

2.) Quartzite - Beautiful, but it's very expensive

3.) Concrete - Looks great, but is heavy. 

Next Best

1.) Porcelain Tile - Looks great, but can be spendy for the look. If you're spending this kinda money, we recommend using Granite.

2.) Stainless Steel - Looks nice, but can be hot to the touch, in sunny areas, and can fingerprint easily.

3.) Butcher's Block - Looks nice, but can become damaged over time, with too much heat exposure. 

Try to Avoid

1.) Quartz - Looks great, but not worth the stains from heat exposure, and yellowing over time from UV damage. 

Outdoor Kitchen Structure Build Suggestions

Use metal studs to frame your outdoor kitchen, if you're not keen on using blocks or brick. 

Using masonry materials is the easiest way to build an outdoor kitchen safely. You don't typically need any insulated jackets, and you can build it for a relatively good price. 

If you're using tile to wrap your structure, we recommend using metal frame materials, and a non-combustible cement board. 

If you use wood to build your structure, it's 100% necessary to use insulated jackets. We also recommend using non-combustible materials to cover the wood. Follow the recommendation of your grill manufacturer, for required clearance. Wood is not recommended.
