There are basically 2 types of Commercial Mountable gas heaters- The Natural and Propane Gas Unit heaters. Separation Combustion Vent type

This makes the separation combustion vent type really eco-friendly. They perform better than the other two vent types and are more common these days.

However it has a disadvantage that arises from the double flue pipe design. The two pipes entail having two holes on your wall or roof. But to salvage this, some manufacturers make use of a box that combines the two pipes, giving it one opening at the end which means one hole through the wall or roof.

Power Vent type

Power Vent units enjoy less popularity lately since the introduction of the separated combustion vent type. Yet, they remain the most common choice for commercial use. The power Vent unit consists of an integral flue vent booster fan that ensures adequate inflow of air for combustion. A flue pipe is connected for Improved flexibility. They are relatively affordable and efficient too.

Gravity Vent type

This commercial mounted gas heater vent type is perhaps the least expensive of the 3 types. Air goes in spontaneously and gives off warmth by the heat generated in the Combustion space. Gravity Vent is the oldest type of heater vents and is still in use in many Industries. However, to use it, some conditions should be met. Conditions like vertical piping only, most times through the roof and ensuring that a match is not lighted close to the heater as it could get hazardous. It also has the disadvantage of negative pressure. This means that there should be a balance between the amount of air coming in and the one being exhausted. If this condition is not met, there won't be efficient venting and an alarm that would rather be too noisy for your liking would keep tripping off regularly.

Heat Exchanger Design

Most commercial mounted gas heaters are long, tall and narrow. But lately, manufacturers have opted for tubular heat exchanger design. This tubular design is believed to reduce the risk of cracking overtime.

For establishments in the highly populated areas, Natural gas heaters are preferable. The main gas line supply reduces refiling cost. While for those that are located off-grid, it would be better to use a Propane gas heater.
