Consider these factors before buying your home Freezer
Freezers come in two types- Standing freezers and Chest freezers. Let us look at the characteristics of these two types
Standing or Upright freezers are long and small in width. These types of freezers are designed to stand upright and to be opened and closed from the front, just like a house door. These types of freezers have compartments, trays, and shelves for storing different items. These shelves and trays make it easy to remove food from the freezer. However, it doesn't have much space and doesn't freeze that much as compared to chest freezers. They are also more expensive than chest freezers. Chest or Deep freezers have more space, are less expensive, and consume less power than standing ones. They also keep their contents frozen for longer hours than the upright ones. But one bad side to it is the bottleneck in bringing out your food when it goes down to the bottom. When you have too many things in the Chest freezer and you need to remove something which is at the bottom of the freezer, it could warrant unpacking other items just to get to it. That's where the upright ones are better.
As we stated earlier, Chest freezers are more energy friendly than standing ones. Whichever way, always look out for freezers with an Energy star rating. Freezers with an Energy Star rating 🌟 are more energy efficient than ones without it. They save you fewer electricity bills and reduce the chances of light sparks due to overburdening of wires.
Choose a freezer size that would contain as much food as you want. Consider how often you cook and the number of people that consume the food. The higher these factors, the bigger the freezer should be. On the other hand, go for freezers that would agree with your home space. Freezers are ideally meant to be kept in the kitchen since they contain food items. But they could also be kept anywhere else depending on the proximity from the kitchen, for convenience purposes. So, you should consider whether you have enough space for the freezer in the kitchen or wherever you choose to place it. Also, consider the opening and closing of the freezer. Chest freezers should have enough room above them to be able to be opened and closed at ease. But if there isn't enough space over it, you should opt for the sliding door design. For upright freezers, make sure that nothing stays in front of it.
Some freezers defrost automatically, while others require that you remove the frost yourself. Well, if you have the time, I bet it would be fun doing the defrosting. But if you find it a rather stressful job, go for freezers that defrost automatically.
